Did you know that when the Beatles performed the song ""Lovely Rita" album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album the term meter maid was not known in the UK. It was the name given in the USA and Australia to female parking attenants but once the song took off the term became part of everyday Englidh in the UK. Legend has it that the song was inspired by the occasion when Paul McCartney received a parking ticket, outside the Abby Road studios, from a female parking attendant called Meta Davis.
Who would have thought that a penalty charge notice or parking fine could inspire a song!
