Dateline Dubai: Many motorists are mad at getting zapped with parking tickets after they paid the fees utilising the mParking service via their own mobile phones.
A number of individuals who parked in zone 343A got ‘incorrect' parking vouchers. The zone number shown on the parking vouchers is 335A but had been given to vehicles parked in zone 343A within the Al Wasl area where parking meters were installed recently. Zone 335A is situated on Shaikh Zayed Road between the World Trade Centre roundabout and the First Interchange whereas zone 343A is located within the Al Wasl area.
One driver said that he was was amazed to see a parking fine ticket on his vehicle parked outside the Gulf News office even though that he had paid for parking utilising the mParking servic. He said a motorist who called the customer service phone number of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) but did not get a satisfactory answer.
He got SMS confirmation for the paid mParking up to 12.28pm on Sunday fine was issued to him at 11.33am when his parking voucher was still valid. He was not the only affected, there had been many others.
