Have you ever received a Penalty Charge Notice issued via CCTV?

If so read on.  Where a local authority issues a Penalty Charge Notice via a Closed Circuit Television camera it is only legal to issue the PCN if the CCTV camera and the equipment supporting it is an "approved device."   More to continue

 

CCTV and the Data Protection Act:

The Data Protection Act requirest CCTV systems to be indicated with warning signs of a sufficient size at the entry points to an area covered by a CCTV system is entered (within reason).

Interestingly there is no no provision for mobile CCTV cameras used by councils in smart cars.  It therefore apears that unless they put up signs everywhere they go theses smart card breach The Data Protection Act requirement.
