National Health Service Parking tickets!  A National Health Service Hospital has given out hospital patients and family members in excess of 18,600 parking fines in a mere twelve months.

The astounding number surfaced in a study in to the amount the ill, their visitors and National health service staff are currently being penalised through huge penalties along with clamping procedures.

This past year University Hospital Birmingham, which operates 3 hospitals,
passed out 18,651 penalties - equal to fifty-one per day. It is in excess of twice the amount of fines given out by the next worst culprit, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, which gave out 9,008 fines.

St George'sHospital in Tooting, South London, immobilised 545
motor vehicles this past year, the highest from all of the hospitals reviewed

The
review by Which?Magazine that.Sheffield Teaching Hospital clamped 389 vehicles over the same period.

The
investigation, based on FOI requests, didn't show the amount of earnings
hospitals have made as a result of parking fines but it is thought to be many tens of thousands of pounds.
